Indy

Picture
Indy is a two-year-old Standard Poodle.  He trained for therapy work at Calvary Baptist Church, where he was invited into the church for Family Night and youth events.  He earned his CGC in August 2011, and has begun his career as a therapy dog.  Indy is currently visiting nursing homes as a therapy dog, as well has hospice patients as a VNS hospice volunteer.

Riley

Picture
Riley is a four-year-old Golden Retriever who has been working as a therapy dog since 2008.  He was welcomed into the church on Wednesdy night (FamilyNight), so that he could socialize with many people, and prepare him for work in hospitals and nursing homes.  He has earned his Canine Good Citizen Certification through he AKC, and has placed third in a beginning obedience competition.  Riley regularly visits patients, along with his buddy, Hayden, at local nursing homes, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and in some hospice cases, their homes.  He also works for VNS of Kokomo.  Riley is owned, trained, and handled by Susan Badgett.

If you have a loved one in the Kokomo area, who you think would benefit from a visit with some very friendly therapy dogs, please contact the church to get ahold of either Tisa Slabach or Susan Badgett. They are happy to make time to visit family and friends of their friends at Calvary Baptist Church, and in the Kokomo community.  Also, feel free to contact them if you are interested in training a dog for therapy work!
